No Internet Connection ¶ 

Streaming stopped working for all applications on device or streaming continues to freeze.

Faulty Connection to Router and Modem ¶ 

Modem and router might not be connected or functioning correctly. Check and adjust connections or replace if needed.

Defective Ethernet Cable or Wrong Wireless Connection Password ¶ 

Make sure the ethernet cable is plugged into the device. If using a wireless network, check that the security key password is entered in correctly. If this dose not work then the device ethernet cable port may be defective. To replace the port the mother board needs to be replaced with this guide.

Outdated Software ¶ 

Verify that the device is up to date with software updates. If not, update the device by going on the Sony website.

Remote Control Doesn’t Work ¶ 

The remote does not turn the device on or off, make selections, or change input settings.

Faulty Batteries ¶ 

The batteries in the device remote control might be dead or faulty. To fix this replace with new batteries.

Bad IR Signal ¶ 

Check if your remote control sends an infrared IR signal. IR Remote Controls send out signals through an infrared light beam. You can see this light by pointing the remote control towards a camera. If you see a red light blinking, it is functioning correctly. If not The remote control may need to be replaced.

IR Signal Obstructions ¶ 

Make sure that there is nothing blocking the IR signal between the remote control and the device. Also verify that the IR sensor of the device is not exposed to bright lights. This can block the signal.

Wrong Remote Control Settings ¶ 

If using a universal remote make sure that you select the correct function for the device. If your remote works with a CD or DVD player, you might need to adjust the Command Mode setting on your device. On some devices, Command Mode is listed under Options in the Setup menu. If this doesn't work read the manufacturer's device guide for your universal remote for further instructions.

Physical Damage ¶ 

If the remote control is physically damaged it may need to be replaced.

No Sound or Display Through HDMI ¶ 

Sound cannot be heard or video is not being displayed when video is playing through HDMI.

Wrong TV/DVD Player Settings ¶ 

The settings on the device of TV may need to be adjusted. First make sure the TV is in the appropriate HDMI input and that the speaker output is on the AV AMP setting.

If the device is connected to an amplifier and the TV with an HDMI cable you may need to set the Audio HDMI or Digital Audio Output setting on the device to PCM. Also set the BD Audio Mix setting of the device needs to be set to On if there’s no sound once the movie started.

Faulty Connections ¶ 

Some of the device connections may be loose or faulty. Verify that the power cord and HDMI cables are connected properly. Use a different HDMI cable to make sure the cable is not malfunctioning. Connect the Blu-ray Disc player to a different TV to make sure TV HDMI port is functioning correctly. Use a separate audio cable when you have an HDMI-to-DVI because DVI inputs only support video signals. Depending on the audio input available on the TV, use either a digital or red and white analog cable. If the Issue continues the device HDMI ports may be faulty. To replace the HDMI ports the mother board needs to be replaced with this guide.

Disc Tray Does Not Open ¶ 

Device will not open disc tray while device is powered on when selecting the eject disc button on the remote and on the device.

Defective Disc Tray ¶ 

Unplug the power cord and allow your device to remain without power for about 30 seconds. After that, plug the power cord back into a power outlet. Turn the device back on and press and hold the OPEN/CLOSE or EJECT button located on the front of the disc player, then press the PLAY, EJECT, and STOP buttons on the remote control simultaneously. Once the tray opens, remove the disc. If the issue continues to occurs, the device may need to be repaired. The disk tray belt may need to be replaced, try replacing it with this guide. If this is not the issue the whole disk drive may need to be replaced with this this guide

Failure to Read DVDs ¶ 

"Device will not read DVDs"

===Broken or Defective Optical Lens ===

The Optical lens is what reads the DVD in order to play it. If this is broken or defective replace with this guide.

Dirty Optical Lens ¶ 

If the Optical lens is dirty the device will not be able to play DVDs. To clean the optical lens follow this guide.

Black Bars/Pictures Cut Off ¶ 

Black bars cut off the image at the top and bottom of the screen.

TV Aspect Ratio Adjustment Needed ¶ 

This issue is cause because different movies are recorded at different aspect ratios that may differ from the aspect ration of your TV. This will cause the image to appear cut off. To fix this issue check and adjust your TVs screen using the ZOOM or WIDE Feature. first make sure you are on the correct HDMI input then press the HOME button on your remote control and navigate to the SETUP menu. Select SCREEN SETTINGS and adjust screen settings depending on the type of TV being used.
