Protocol Vento Troubleshooting
Identified by model number 6182-7RC.
- Propeller Stops Spinning
- Drone Unresponsive to Remote Control
- Drone Does Not Power Up
- Video Feed Does Not Appear On Streaming Device
- Drone Flies Erratically
Propeller Stops Spinning ¶
One or more of the propellers does not spin when operating drone.
Debris Entangled in Propeller ¶
Check the base of the propeller for any debris that may be restricting movement and remove it. If unable to remove the debris by hand, use a pair of tweezers. If debris is still stuck, removal of the propeller may be necessary in order to clean the base. Using the included silver, propeller removal tool, pop the propeller off with moderate force. Remove the debris and pop the propeller back into its post. Use this propeller replacement guide if you are having trouble removing the propeller.
Disconnected Motor Connector ¶
Check the connection to the motor in the arm of the drone. If it has become disconnected, consult the motor replacement guide on how to reconnect the motor.
Faulty Motor ¶
If there is no obvious entangling debris and the motor connection is maintained, the motor itself may be faulty. In this case, motor replacement may be necessary. Use this motor replacement guide to replace your motor.
Drone Unresponsive to Remote Control ¶
Drone does not respond to remote control commands.
Drone or Remote Control Not Powered On ¶
To turn the drone on, press and hold power button on drone until the green and red lights blink on. To turn the remote control on, slide the power switch to the ON position. The controller's red light will start blinking to indicate it's turned on.
Drone and Remote Control Not Synchronized ¶
Place the drone on a flat surface and hold the drone's power button down for 3 seconds. Red and green lights on the drone will start blinking. To power on the remote control, slide the power switch to the ON position, and push the left joystick (also known as, throttle) down. The remote control will beep 3 times, and the lights on the controller and drone will become solid.
Low or Faulty Remote Control Battery ¶
If the remote control is still unresponsive after powering on, the batteries may need to be replaced. Open and remove the battery hatch on the back of the controller and replace all four AA batteries.
Propeller Stuck ¶
If a propeller is stuck, the drone's motor will not respond. Using the included silver, propeller removal tool, pop the propeller off with moderate force. Then, pop the propeller properly into place.
Radio Signal Compromised ¶
The drone's motor will turn off if the radio signal between the remote control and drone is lost. Ensure drone is within range of remote control. Inclement weather may also affect radio signal.
Drone Does Not Power Up ¶
Drone does not respond or show any sign of powering up.
No or Low Charge ¶
Use the battery charger, included in the original set, and connect the charger to the battery. Plug it into the wall and let it charge for a while.
Needs Battery Replacement ¶
If the battery still does not charge after being plugged in for a significant amount of time, the battery is faulty and needs to be replaced.
Video Feed Does Not Appear On Streaming Device ¶
Video feed does not appear on streaming device, through the Vento Wi-Fi App.
App Needs to be Updated ¶
If your video feed does not respond, you may need to update the Vento Wi-Fi application on your streaming device. Go to the app store in your smart device and check for an update in the UPDATES tab. If the application needs an update, click to update it. Wait for the application to update before attempting to open the app again.
Streaming Device Not Connected to Wi-Fi ¶
Check the internet connection on your streaming device. The video feed should function if you are connected to Wi-Fi. If the video feed is still unresponsive, the internet connection itself may be slow or faulty.
Drone Flies Erratically ¶
The flying pattern of the drone is irregular or uncontrollable.
Drone Speed Setting Inconsistent with User's Skill Level ¶
Drone's flight may be erratic due to user's inability to control the drone at its current speed. In this case, the drone may seem too responsive to the user's input. To turn the speed to a lower setting, press the H/L button on the back of the remote control. The drone will beep once when it is at its lowest speed.
Entangled Propeller ¶
Check the base of the propeller for any hair or other debris that may be restricting movement and remove it. If unable to remove the debris by hand, use a pair of tweezers. If debris is still stuck, removal of the propeller may be necessary in order to clean the base. Using the included silver, propeller removal tool, pop the propeller off with moderate force. Remove the debris and pop the propeller back into its post.
Damaged Propeller ¶
Check each propeller to ensure it is in good, working condition. It should be free of nicks, cracks, chips, or severed pieces. If any of the four propellers appears to be damaged in any way, replace the propeller using the propeller replacement guide.
Mismatched Propellers ¶
Make sure the propellers are on the correct legs. The propellers labeled A should be on the front left and back right legs. The propellers labeled B should be on the front right and back left legs.
Low or Dead Battery ¶
Ensure that the batteries in both the drone and the controller are sufficiently charged. Even batteries that are low in power can negatively affect flight orientation. If the battery in the drone is low or out of charge, remove the battery from the back of the drone, and use the included USB cable to charge the battery. The USB light will turn green when fully charged. If the batteries in the remote or low or out of charge, remove the battery hatch from the controller and replace the 4 AA batteries.
Tip: Do NOT mix old and new batteries. Avoid mixing different types of batteries.
Drone Too Far From Controller ¶
If the drone has moved too far from the controller, the controller will beep rapidly. Fly the drone back into range immediately or risk losing control of the drone.
Damaged Motor ¶
If one of the motors are damaged, the drone may not fly. Flight may also be erratic. In this case, a motor replacement will likely be necessary. Consult this motor replacement guide.
Drone Not Synchronized While On Level Surface ¶
Turn drone and remote control off. Place the drone on a flat surface. Hold the drone's power button down for 3 seconds. Red and green lights on the drone will start blinking. Power on the remote control by sliding the power switch to the ON position, and push the left joystick (throttle) down. The remote control will beep 3 times, and the lights on the controller and drone will become solid.
Incorrect Trim Settings ¶
If the trim settings are incorrect, the drone may drift in one direction even without input from the controller. To correct this, push the button on the back of the controller labeled TRIM and move the right joystick in the opposite direction of the one that the drone is drifting. If there is rotational drift, use the trim button and the left stick to correct in the same way.
