LG Tribute Troubleshooting

Device is identified by model number LS660

Phone Will Not Charge ¶

The battery does not hold a charge or charge at all.

Faulty Charging Cord ¶

Test the cord on other devices that have the same charging port. If the cord works with other devices, the charging cord is not the problem. If the cord does not work with other devices, purchase a new cord.

Faulty Battery ¶

There are a few ways to verify if your smartphone battery is bad. First perform a visual inspection. If you notice any bulges, corrosion, or stains, the battery is likely bad. If there are no obvious physical defects, place the battery on a flat surface and try to spin it. If the battery spins freely like a top, it is likely bad. Finally, if your battery drops rapidly by several percentage points at a time, or fails to charge, see the LG Tribute Battery Replacement Guide.

Faulty Charging Port ¶

If the charging cord and the battery are good, the charging port needs to be replaced. Refer to the LG Tribute Motherboard Replacement Guide.

Screen is Not Functioning Properly ¶

The screen is not lighting, responding to touch, and/or it is cracked.

Dead Pixels on Screen ¶

If a black dot(s) appear on the screen, it is likely that the one or more pixels are dead. Dead pixels will always appear black against any color background. Some people have been able to repair dead pixels by applying pressure.

Locate the precise locations of the dead pixels, turn the screen off, and apply gentle but firm pressure with a narrow-tipped object. To avoid scratching the screen, cover the screen with a scratch-free cloth. Apply pressure about 10 times and then turn the screen back on. If the dead pixels do not light up after several attempts, you may need to replace the screen using the LG Tribute Touchscreen Replacement Guide.

Blank Display ¶

If the screen is black or white, make sure the phone is on and the battery is charged. If the battery is charged and the phone is on, and the display is still blank, the screen will need to be replaced. Refer to the LG Tribute Touchscreen Replacement Guide.

Faulty Touchscreen Sensors ¶

If the screen is turned on but does not respond to touch with dry hands, there are likely faulty touchscreen sensors and the screen will need to be replaced. Refer to the LG Tribute Touchscreen Replacement Guide for additional details.

Cracked Screen ¶

If the screen is cracked, the screen will need to be replaced. See the LG Tribute Touchscreen Replacement Guide.

Headphone Jack is Not Working ¶

When headphones are plugged into the headphone jack there is no sound or sound cuts in and out.

Dirty Headphone Jack ¶

If the headphone jack is dirty, purchase a can of pressurized air and spray it directly in the jack. This will help clean out loose debris in the jack.

Faulty Headphone Jack ¶

If the jack is clean and it is still not working, the headphone jack will need to be replaced. To do this, see the LG Tribute Motherboard Replacement Guide.

Ear Piece Speaker is Not Working ¶

Sound is tinny and distorted.

Volume is Turned Down ¶

To check the volume level, press the the top of the volume control on the left side of the phone.

Faulty Connection to Headphone Jack ¶

If the volume is turned up and the speaker is still not working, the connection to the headphone jack may need to be replaced. Refer to the LG Tribute Motherboard Replacement Guide.

Speaker is Broken ¶

If the previous solutions do not resolve the issue, the speaker will need to be replaced. For instructions, refer to the LG Tribute Ear Piece Speaker Replacement Guide.

Rear Facing Camera is Not Working Properly ¶

Camera is taking blurry/dull photos, or not taking photos at all.

Camera Lens is Out of Place ¶

If you notice that your back camera lens is loose or rattles, but the camera still functions properly otherwise, see LG Tribute Rear Facing Camera Replacement Guide.

However, rather than replacing the camera, attempt to gently reposition the camera to where it belongs and secure it with a small amount of rubber cement. Then reassemble the phone according to the instructions.

Camera Glass is Cracked ¶

If your rearward facing camera becomes cracked, refer to LG Tribute Rear Facing Camera Replacement Guide.

Camera Glass is Dirty ¶

When the camera glass is dirty, photo quality is likely blurry and dull. To easily clean the camera glass, take a microfiber cloth and fold it into a triangle. Use the corner to then clean the lens.

If the microfiber cloth does not resolve the issue, use a small blower brush to remove dust and debris from the lens.

If the previous two recommendations do not resolve the issue, there is likely dirt trapped in the phone. If this is the case, the phone will need to be taken apart. See LG Tribute Rear Facing Camera Replacement Guide.
