Battery Life is Poor ¶ 

Battery does not last

Faulty Battery ¶ 

If the light on the adapter is on, make sure the adapter is connected correctly to the laptop. If the laptop powers on when the adapter is plugged in, regardless of how long it takes to charge, then the battery is faulty. Replace the battery using this guide.

Brightness too High ¶ 

To lower your brightness, go into your laptop's display settings and lower the brightness. You can auto-adjust the brightness or put your laptop in low power mode.

Too Many Background Applications Open ¶ 

If too many background applications are open, open task manager and quit unnecessary applications. Additionally, you can disable unnecessary apps on startup.

Battery Does Not Charge ¶ 

Battery is plugged in and will not charge

Faulty Battery ¶

Faulty Charger ¶ 

Your charger could be faulty, in which case you should purchase a new one from the manufacturer

Bad Outlet/No Power Reaching Laptop ¶ 

If your computer is not charging, the outlet could be bad. In this case, you should try plugging your computer into another outlet.

Computer Operates Slowly ¶ 

Computer operating speed is reduced

Not Enough RAM ¶ 

If your computer is crashing during normal use, during memory intensive tasks, or will not boot up, this means you have bad RAM or that you do not have enough RAM. Install RAM into your computer.

Memory is Full ¶ 

Delete unnecessary, large applications from memory to free up RAM.

Too Many Background Applications Running ¶ 

If too many background applications are open, your computer may run slowly. Open task manager to end programs that are running unnecessarily.

Hard Drive Error ¶ 

There may be an error on your hard drive. To fix this, obtain a Windows DVD for the version that you have. Boot your laptop to the DVD, and choose “Repair your computer,” then click next. On this screen, pick “Startup Repair” and let it run. After this, your laptop should boot correctly. If your laptop still has issues, you may need to replace your hard drive.

Laptop Overheats ¶ 

While you are using your laptop, it randomly shuts off or gets hot.

Dust in Vents/Fans ¶ 

Computers overheat due to dust and other materials stuck in the vents or fans. To help with this, use a compressed air duster to blow the dust out of these areas.

Vent is Obstructed ¶ 

Make sure the vent is not blocked so that air can flow freely.

Keyboard Not Responding ¶ 

Keyboard does not work

Faulty Keyboard ¶ 

If the entire keyboard is not responding, try replacing it with this guide.

Drivers are Out of Date ¶ 

Drivers can be updated online.

Obstructed Keys ¶ 

Use compressed air to blow dust out of keys on the keyboard.
