The laptop will not respond or show any sign of powering up.
Check to make sure the power adapter is plugged in. If it is, make sure the light on the adapter is on. If the light is not on, and the adapter is plugged in, the adapter is faulty. Consider purchasing a replacement adapter.
If the adapter is plugged in, and the light on the adapter is on, make sure the adapter is connect to the laptop. If the laptop only powers up when the adapter is plugged in, regardless of charging time, then the battery is faulty. Replace the battery using this guide.
When the laptop powers up, it displays an error message.
If the following message or something similar appears when booting your computer, then the CMOS batter has gone bad. This is a small battery located on the motherboard. Follow the guide to replace the battery and consider buying a new battery.

If the laptop displays a Disk Boot Failure on boot, the computer was not able to load the operating system.
This may be caused by a Hard Drive Error. Even though you have a hard drive in your computer, there may be an error on it. This can happen when the user shuts off the computer by pressing the power button instead of initiating the shutdown sequence through the operating system. To resolve this issue, get a Windows DVD for the version that you have. Please note that the specific version does not matter, only that it is for Windows XP, Vista, 7, or 8. Boot to the DVD, and choose “Repair your computer,” then click next. On this screen, pick “Startup Repair” and let it run. After this, your Acer Aspire E1 510P -4637 should boot correctly. If your computer does not boot correctly and still has issues, you may need to replace your hard drive. See the hard drive replacement guide and consider buying a new hard drive.
If your computer crashes during normal operation, crashes during memory intensive tasks, or beeps and will not boot up, this means you have bad RAM or that you do not have enough RAM. Follow the replacement guide to install RAM and consider buying new RAM.
If the laptop will not turn on or if it displays a blue screen, the installed memory may be incompatible or faulty. See memory replacement guide to access the memory. Check to see that the memory sticks installed are made by the same manufacturer and are the same size. If they are not, consider buying new RAM. If the memory sticks are compatible, but still don't work, they may be faulty and need to be replaced.
The keyboard is not responding when keys are pressed.
If the keyboard is not responding when used, it may be disabled. Try plugging in an external keyboard to a usb port. If the external keyboard works, then the laptop keyboard may need to be replaced. See the keyboard replacement guide to replace it. If the external keyboard also does not work, then the keyboard may be disabled. Go to Start > Devices and Printers > R-click on the keyboard > click on troubleshoot. Run through the windows troubleshooter to fix the problem.
The touchpad is not responding.
If the touchpad is not responding then it may be disabled. To disable or enable the laptop’s touchpad, hold down the “FN” button and F7.
If the problem remains, drivers may need to be reinstalled. Follow the steps below to reinstall touchpad drivers.
1. Click Start, then right-click My Computer (or Computer) and click Manage.
2. In the Computer Management window, on the left, click Device Manager.
3. Click the + sign in front of Mouse and other pointing devices.
4. Right-click the device listed below Mouse and other pointing devices and select Uninstall.
5. Click OK to confirm removal of the device.
6. Restart the system. Windows will detect and automatically install the touchpad driver.
The touchscreen is not responding when touched.
Use a microfiber cloth to wipe down the touchscreen. Spray a little glass cleaner on the microfiber cloth and clean the screen to remove any dirt or fingerprints.
Make sure that the drivers for the touchscreen are up to date. Go to the Acer driver website, search "Aspire E1-510P," choose your operating system and download the correct touchscreen/ touchpad driver.
If the touchscreen still does not work, it may need to be replaced. Follow this guide and consider buying a new touchscreen here.
The laptop is not connecting to a wireless network.
If wireless networks are not being detected by the laptop, it is possible that the Wifi was turned off. Press the key combination Fn+F3 to toggle the Wifi back on.
If this key combination does not work, you may need to turn the Wifi back on through the windows software. Do this by going to Start > R-click on computer > click on Manage > Hightlight "Services and Applications" > Double Click "Services and Applications" > Click on "Services" > Scroll to the bottom and find "WLAN AutoConfig." Make sure this is set to "Automatic."
If your laptop is not able to connect to wireless networks, you may need to reinstall the wireless adapter drivers. Go to the Acer driver website, search "Aspire E1-510P," choose your operating system and scroll down to the "Wireless LAN" Install the correct driver for your operating system.
