Make sure that the system is charging properly. It needs to be plugged into the wall with the included ac adapter. A blinking orange light means that the Vita has no more charge left in it. Wait until the orange light turns solid then try to turn it on again.

When you are turning it on hold down the power button for 5 seconds. If the screen is on but unresponsive then hold the power button for 30 seconds until it completely shuts down.

If the device is not charging check out the troubleshooting information for that problem.

If you have reset the PS Vita and the device will not turn on, it is likely the battery needs to be replaced.

3

Attempt to hard reset the system by charging it by its AC charger for at least 5 minutes to make sure the system has some sort of charge. Hold the power button for at least 30 seconds to perform a hard reset.

To activate safe mode, press and hold "R" button + PS button + Power button while it is OFF (not standby) for 5 seconds:

Safe mode options to try to fix your PS Vita:

  • Restart the PS Vita System - which will reboot the system and should start it back to square one.
  • Rebuild Database - should return everything back to original settings, may wipe all memory and all user information. Back up your data if possible before attempting this.
  • Restore the PS Vita System - restores system to default. Back up your data if possible before attempting this.
  • Update System Software - allows you to force your system to update.
