Novel Problem

rcon400 -

My Problem

Student spilled glass of water onto closed MacBook Air. Laptop shorted immediately, potentially losing months of work because, let's face it, even with a dedicated backup drive on the shelf and Mac's Time Machine making backups quick and easy, may people still don't back up. So months of work on the novel, the only copy extant, vanished.

My Fix

Luckily the laptop had an SSD for an internal hard drive. There were several false starts in recovering the drive, due to trying to use T5 screwdrivers to access the insides.

With the help of the P5, the drive was extracted and inserted into a new usb case. Voila! All data recovered.

My Advice

If you have the right tool and guidance, drives are often recoverable in a D.I.Y. workflow. The Real Advice: Backup your computers!!
