Dual Hard Drives - Windows and OSX without bootcamp!!!

My Problem

I only had a 320gb hd. and didnt have enough room for a windows partition thru bootcamp. i installed a 1tb 3.5 as the primary drive with windows 7 pro x64 bit (also unsupported for 2111 imac) and i installed a 480gb ssd with optical bay caddy. i had to load osx on the 480gb ssd before i reoved the internal disc drive. needed the internal disc drive to load win 7 on the 1 tb hd. after windows was loaded then i removed the disc drive and installed the pre loaded 480 gb ssd in the optical bay caddy. power on press option key and 2 separate hard drives show up with separate os!!!!!

My Fix

success. the key was using the primary drive slot inside the mac to load the operating systems.

My Advice

if you load osx on a hard drive before you install in the optical bay you can use the primary drive for another os.
