MacBook Pro Retina 15 fan replacement

sbanowit -

My Problem

Noisy fan due to dropped MacBook.

My Fix

Went really well - thank you for such great instructions and part/tool lists. Sadly, you were out of stock on the fans, so I had to purchase them elsewhere, but would have gladly procured all needed parts and tools from you, if they had been in stock. I would suggest offering new sets of case screws. Even with the right Pentalobe screwdriver, those little buggers strip very easily. I found some new screw sets on ebay and used those to seal the MacBook back up once finished with the repair for a factory fresh look and feel.

My Advice

The instructions and tool/parts lists are spot on. You should feel comfortable undertaking this repair with little stress. Move slowly and it will go perfectly.

You may wish to find a source (like ebay) for a new set of case screws. Apple tends to torque them down pretty well, so removal may result in some stripping and having a new set on hand to close the unit up after repair makes it more pleasant and more "factory" in look and feel. The icing on the cake.
