My Problem

My MagSafe dc in board was charred from using an old charger (possibly wrong voltage) and continued to work, but only if the charger sat at a specific angle.

My Fix

WARNING My 2011 MBP 17" uses a Torx T6 as well as a Phillips#00, that was not mentioned in the ifixit guide, but luckily I was able to get a Torx T6 driver at walmart.

The spudger was really useful.

The repair went alright.

Pretty difficult to make sure all of the wires and ribbons were on top of the logic board when reinserting the logic board back in.

My Advice

Make sure you have each ribbon and wire that attaches to the logic board pointed out before you try to reinsert the logic board and screw it back in.
