My Problem
After two and a half great years, I finally dropped my iPhone 3GS on concrete and shattered the glass. And only just weeks before the new iPhone is supposed to be announced. I figured I would keep the 3 GS long enough to see what Apple is going to produce next.
My Fix
The 3GS is pretty easy to get apart. The online repair guide was easy to follow and complete. It took less than 15 min to do the repair. It took way longer than that to back up the phone.
My Advice
iphone 3 GS is still a very serviceable smartphone. It is easy to fix yourself. If you crack your glass, it may be well worth the $99 to replace the display and postpone your next upgrade.
