My Problem

My MacBook Pro became really hard to charge. The MagSafe charger had to be put on just right, and it was getting harder and harder to charge. We have two chargers and both had the issue, so I felt sure the problem was on the computer side.

My Fix

Thanks to the great iFixit instructions and the spudger (great tool with an even better name), the repair went great. Pretty easy, if not a little nerve wracking, but it made me feel wicked smart to have done it. Like a cross between an early Bill Gates and a brain surgeon. My wife thinks I’m smart now!

My Advice

Follow the instructions.

Also I started the repair with several little cups (I used measuring cups) to put little screws in. I set them behind my laptop in a row. I put screw groups in the cups left to right. This way I could go back right to left and know I was grabbing the right bits. Ex: The screws on bottom of laptop that hold the outer case on all went into the leftmost cup. Then the screws that held the fans in went in the next cup to the right, etc.
