My Problem
The sound on our Kindle Fire wouldn't work through the speakers unless you plugged something in and out of the headphone jack over and over to make it realize that nothing was plugged in.
My Fix
The repair went very well, unlike other versions of the Fire tablet where the jack is soldered to the board, this headphone jack plugged into the main board with a ribbon cable, it was literally a 2 minute fix.
My Advice
My best advice to anyone is to not be afraid to take stuff apart and try to fix it. If it's broken, you can't make it work any less. I've fixed my old DLP TV, a Samsung Monitor, this tablet, etc, and saved hundreds of dollars by fixing them instead of throwing them away and buying something new. Also, learn how to solder! It's not hard in the least and again, can save you hundreds of dollars if a blown $2 capacitor is all it takes to fix a $1500 television.
