My Problem
Both the USB ports from the original logic died after waking up from sleep mode. One port was connected to a usb HP printer and the other to an external DVD Rom drive. This was done many times but after 9 years it decided to give up.
My Fix
The repair was relatively trouble free except for one stripped screw holding the old logic board back from extraction. A soldering iron, solder and a paper clip did the trick to remove the stripped screw. The installation of the new logic board was relative straight forward.
My Advice
A word of advice, be very gentle with the cables and plugs on the motherboard as they are tiny, thin and fragile. ifixit has got good pictorial with text description and a video for the dismantling of the logic board. Assembly is simply a reverse process. Please read the text and review the pictures with detail before working on the repair. Have the instructions and pictures handy during the repair.
