Easy

My Problem

The fan was noisy for a long time, though I haven't been using this old computer 15" Macbook Pro 2008.. Now I needed it as an Arduino development station.

My Fix

trivial, no surprises. Now It runs Linux (Fedora 27), the Fedora system management tools are fully compatible, I can see the power data and the fan / cooling data.

The replacement fan was a bit pricey compared to what can be found on AliExpress and Ebay ($30 vs $14-$19), but with iFixit there is more hope for quality.

My Advice

Follow the guide, make sure you got he right tools. BTW there are cheaper alternatives to the tools sets sold by iFixit, I got an equivalent of an iFixit Pro tools set ($60) on AMZN for $17 and it is fine.

My guidelines: shop iFixit for parts, tools elsewhere.
