My Problem
The control stick was drifting and the buttons were sticky
My Fix
It went very well. The GameCube controller is surprisingly easy to open up and clean.
My Advice
If you're having troubles with your GameCube controller it is most likely a problem with it being dirty. Thankfully it is pretty easy to open and clean meaning you don't need to buy a new one saving you money.
