My Problem
Tried to update my late 2011 Macbook to a Solid State and of course, got that cursed blinking folder! Crucial told me it was 99% the hard drive cable, they see it a lot in the 2011 MacBooks.
My Fix
It's a little hard and scary to mess with so many cables and things! But overall the instructions on iFixit are wonderful, maybe watch a few videos online as well to see the full process.
My Advice
I'd definitely recommend anyone order the cable with the bracket! That tiny IR cable (the orange one) is NOT fun...it's do-able no doubt, I used tweezers and that helped a lot. But in hindsight, it's worth the extra $5 to not have to worry about it!
