My Problem

The shift button on my recently purchased OP-1 was going out and I had only had it for a few weeks. I had bought it second hand in the attempt to save some money rather than buying a new unit. The guy I bought it from said that he had used it less than 10 hours. However after a week of using it daily for at least 4-5 hours a day my shift button had become intermittent, sometime it would work if i pressed it at a very specific angle, other times not. So I looked up a replacement key bed on ifixit, and waited for it to arrive.

My Fix

The repair was a simple one and took a little less than 20 minutes once I had everything laid out carefully. Washed my hands probably a few times and slowly started taking the keys out. putting the ribbon clamps back in was honestly the only hard part seeing as they don't go in very far and still make a solid connection.

My Advice

Careful not to smudge the lcd under the bed, it will show through the glass part on the key bed.

Do not be afraid of taking something apart. It's a lie for you think its dangerous unless you act like a fool and break it.
