iPod 5th Generation (Video) Battery Replacement

20 minutes

Moderate

My Problem

After years of use, the battery finally quit. I NEED MY MUSIC!!! Googled replacement batteries and found IFIXIT!

My Fix

Battery replacement kit came in the mail today. Pretty quick too. So after work I changed, got comfortable and got ready to change out the battery. I have built PC's, overhauled aircrafts, cars and such, but I was intimidated about breaking my iPod. Well, I opened IFIXIT's webpage and brought up instructions and followed step by step. Can't believe it, 20 minutes no real problems and it worked too! Plugged in my speakers and got music, plugged in the power to recharge the new battery and it's showing a charge. Didn't even break the tools as many have wrote about. Best 15 bucks I've spent in a long time.

My Advice

Having a small guitar pick or some small thin plastic device to keep the front and back separate once you work up the first corner was a big help. Be careful around the opening where you connect the apple cable, you can crack the plastic there.
