Replacing the battery of a 7th generation iPod classic

My Problem

The battery was very old and holding almost no charge

My Fix

It was very difficult to pry the external covers apart. The plastic tools wore down over time and before long would not hold the two sides apart

My Advice

Be very careful when detaching the battery connector from the terminal: I accidentally pulled it lightly and the terminal came loose from the motherboard, effectively rendering it useless. I didn't have the tools to solder on a new connector, so I gave up.
