My Problem
Original battery was only lasting about a day. I would charge it overnight and it would be nearly dead 24 hours later. While my phone is on all the time I am not constantly using it. A couple of calls, a few texts and several email checks throughout the day is pretty normal. I found a free program that can tell you how many cycles your battery has gone through and what its current capacity is - iBackupbot. I ran the program and found that I had 600 cycles and the capacity was down to 1004mah at full charge. A new battery would be around 1420mah. After doing some research on line, I found the ifixit battery replacement video and decided to give it a go.
My Fix
The kit arrived quickly, just a couple of days after I ordered it. I jumped right in and took the phone apart using the included tools. Everything went pretty smoothly and I had the new battery installed and the phone running again in under a half hour. The only tricky parts were getting the old battery out - the adhesive is pretty strong. And, getting the new battery clip to snap onto the male pin connector was tricky. I thought I had it first try but, when I tried to power on the phone, I got nothing. Opened it back up, realigned the clip and put a bit more force into snapping it into place. Put it back together and it powered back up no problem. I checked the new battery out on iBackupbot after running the battery down to 5% and fully charging and it read 1 cycle and was at almost full capacity. My phone was at 90% after 24 hours and about 85% after 48 hours. That is better performance than I remember the original battery having. I'm very happy.
My Advice
Magnification and good light! These are really, really small parts you are dealing with. Being able to see what you are doing is paramount especially when trying to align the battery clip with the pin connector.
Be patient when prying the battery out. The adhesive is tenacious! Work your way around the battery applying steady but not forceful pressure in each spot for about 10 seconds until you find a spot that lets go. Don't try to force it or you may end up with bigger problems to deal with.
