iPhone 4 Battery Replacement

5 - 30 minutes

Moderate

My Problem

iPhone 4 was getting old and would NOT hold a charge more than half day with all apps turned off!

I also DIY dryers!

My Fix

Instructions were "right on" even to the point of the "double backed" tape being a little tough. The lifting tool was very strained. I was afraid it was going to break. So I improvised. See below. The connector install was fairly easy after you realize the connector is not that fragile. Go ahead and push down on it to hear it lock in! After that replaced the screw. The cover slid back on without issue. The "liberator screws" were installed. Done! Total Time: <10 minutes while sitting at my desk having my morning coffee! Thanks

My Advice

I started looking for a sturdier tool to pry the battery out. I found the perfect tool was a single blade staple remover! After going around the perimeter of the battery it finally gave up and slowly came out. Most of the tape stayed in tack and I used to hold the new battery.

Told several people about the quick inexpensive fix and they ordered kits! Nice to prove a DIY repair can be performed on an advertised non-replaceable battery phone!
