My Problem
I had 2 partitions on a hard drive, OS X Maverick and Windows 7. The mac partition broke one day so I used my windows partition which finally broke the day before I had to do a presentation from my internship.
My Fix
I went to the mac store and they told me that I needed a new hard drive which they could do but it would cost hundreds of dollars or I should get a new laptop... I found this site and only had to pay $100 for a brand new 500 GB SSD and kit for opening up the computer. I was able to install the SSD and re-install OS X Maverick in less than 2 hours.
My Advice
Make sure you are not statically charged or you could fry some of the microchips. After removing the back frame, disconnect the power source before doing anything else. Clean off as much dust as possible before installing the new SSD. After installing the SSD RECONNECT THE POWER SOURCE or nothing will work, I almost forgot.
