iMac Intel 27" EMC 2309 and 2374 RAM Replacement

5 - 10 minutes

Easy

My Problem

Just a slow processing computer ever since yosemite. 4 mb ram is not enough and 500gb hard drive not enough space.

My Fix

Easy, I figured while had it open a new SSDHD was nessery along with 16gb ram. With the great instructions, I had both done in about 1/2 hour once i started.

My Advice

Read all of the instructions and prep properly. Propper preparation makes for an easy time of it. Hardest information to find was restoring the HD from time machine backup. Its easy just not complete coherent instructons anywhere.

To get the Mac to read the new HD so you can install the backup the HD has to be Format it first. You can not formant it in recovery mode. Once the drive is formated you can boot in recovery mode and Disk utility will find the drive once its plugged in.
