Macbook Pro 15" Unibody Mid 2012 Battery Replacement

My Problem

My MacBook Pro would frequently turn off when it was disconnected from the Magsafe Power Adapter. Even when the MacBook Pro had shown a full battery, it would still shutdown if it was disconnected. After a few weeks of frustration, I did some research. I wasn't entirely sure of the problem but a dying battery seemed like the culprit.

My Fix

I previously bought an iFixit tool set so I was well prepared for the task. I found the appropriate repair guide and in less than 30 minutes, I replaced the battery with no problem!

My Advice

Don't get too caught up on the exact details! The repair guide suggested a Y1 screwdriver and I forcibly tried to loosen the screw. Eventually I tried a Y0 and it worked.
