Moderate

My Problem

I use my MacBook Pro day in and day out, on the road, in cafes, and at home. It runs almost 24 hrs. After 5 years the fans started to grind and warble with a scratchy sound. I listened carefully and figured out it was the left fan.

My Fix

I easily replaced the left fan only to startup my Mac and find out the right fan also needed replacement. So I ordered the right fan using the coupon that came with my first order. The second fan was installed and now my Mac us quiet again.

My Advice

When your fan goes, replace both fans. The time it took to order first the left fan and then the right was very long, easily over a month, maybe 2 months in all. The shipping is slow (no fault to ifixit).
