Trackpad stopped clicking

My Problem

Over time my trackpad stopped clicking - the computer worked fine with a mouse but was nearly impossible to use with only the trackpad. I assumed the trackpad was broken and ordered a replacement. First thing I did to install the trackpad was remove the existing battery (a cheap knockoff I installed a year ago). I immediately realized that the reason the trackpad didn't click was that it was hitting the battery! So I returned the trackpad, ordered a replacement battery and installed it.

My Fix

About as easy a repair as possible. You need the tools but otherwise it's under 5 minutes of work.

My Advice

If your trackpad starts working poorly think about the battery! And beware cheaper knockoff replacement batteries.
