My Problem
Battery wasn't holding a charge, would work when plugged in but even that was getting spotty.
My Fix
Did the full tear down twice as I had issues with the restore process and thought I screwed something up. First time took 20-30 minutes second time only took a couple. Directions were excellent.
My Advice
Luckily I ran across another post on ifixit talking about the different boot modes available on the ipod. Did the test mode to check everything out then rebooted. Took a couple times, not sure why, but eventually it was just working again.
