Replacing my iMac's Optical Drive with an SSD
My Problem
HDD was too slow, so I figured an SSD was in order.
My Fix
Well, overall. Unscrewing screws and unplugging the connectors took some time, but in the end it worked out. Had a temporary scare where I couldn't fit the logic board into its tight space, but after a few minutes of manoeuvring, all was well.
Was also concerned that removing the optical drive might cause the computer to act strange, but fortunately that was not the case.
My Advice
Do it. Make sure you have the right tools and parts, and take your time.
Beware that reinstalling the Operating System on the SSD and restoring from a Time Machine backup took some time.
