My Problem

My trackpad was acting up and realized I could replace it.

My Fix

The repair went well. I had watched videos on replacing the pad in a Macbook Pro. It is a little different with the model I own. You need to take off the complete back of the computer as with the Pro model.

Once you have and taken out the battery there are only 2 of the small clamps holding it in as the other side has tabs. i also needed to take off the thin bar that runs across the entire Macbook and the small black piece in order to get it installed properly. Otherwise it was difficult to get the part that plugs into the board up where it needs to go. Once in you need to adjust the large screw at the one end to a comfortable "click" level. Just turn it until you hear a distinct click when pressing the right or left corners.

My Advice

Get a kit for repairing Apple iPhones, and other Apple devices. It will have a small 3 pointed driver that will turn the tiny tiny screws that hold on the clamps that hold the track pad in place.
