My Problem
I was moving out of my place and one of my roommates left a sh*t load of stuff behind. A mix of trash and good stuff alike. I was in the process of throwing out some of it when I came across an Xbox 360 box that I was empty and found it had one in it. I turned it on and found it had the RRoD. So I looked on line and found the ~$30 repair kit from IFIXIT.com
My Fix
Over all the repair went well. The worst / hardest part was probably removing the "x" clamps that hold the heat sinks on. I was also lucky to have a heat gun to use on it as well while it was open. So about 3 hours of work and $30 and now I have a working XBOX 360.
My Advice
I found that if you press the "x" clamp down in the corner that you are working in and then try to pry it off I had better results. Also I sued rubbing alcohol to get the old thermal paste off and it didn't work so well I should have tried what was reddened... unless someone else has had better luck with anything else.
