Description

Description

Replace a scratched or cracked front glass digitizer panel or a malfunctioning display on your iPhone 8.

Part Assembly Includes

Part Assembly Includes

  • Front Glass Digitizer Panel
  • 4.7 inch 750 x 1334 pixel LCD Display

Note

As of July 2018, replacing the display disables the ambient light sensor no matter what type part you use. Consequently, auto-brightness and True Tone functions won’t work with replacement displays. It’s believed this is due to a bug in iOS 11. The beta release of iOS 12 partially fixes this issue, so it’s possible Apple will resolve it in a future iOS update.

More information can be found here: https://ifixit.org/blog/9917/11-3-update...

The Touch ID function will only work with your phone's original home button assembly. This replacement part does not include the home button. You will need to transfer the button assembly from your old display to retain Touch ID.

This part will only work in an iPhone 8. It will not work in an iPhone 8 Plus. Identify your iPhone correctly in one step.

Note

This part does not include the home button, front camera, earpiece speaker, or LCD shield plate. You will need to transfer these parts from your old display assembly to your new part.

My Fix

I’ve done a few of these repairs so it went very well except I didn’t realize the iPhone 7 had a new type of screw inside the phone. I had to put off the repair until I was able to order the tri-point driver

My Advice

Don’t forget to order the Tri-point Y000 driver bit and a handle to go wit . . .

My Problem

Had to replace a broken screen

My Fix

Using the guide from the site, I was easily able to take the watch apart and replace the screen without a hitch.

My Advice

It's easier to tear apart using a great shrink gun to help loosen the seal around the edges.

My Problem

Attempting to replace the broken screen, not LCD.

My Fix

Didn't quite make the repair. Realized once it was torn apart that the screen I was sent (not from ifixit) was the wrong one. The Y000 repair tool they sent with their screen wasn't very good and it stripped out. I ordered the tool from ifixit in o . . .

My Problem

Battery needed servicing. I was still running the original battery, but mainly on the charger 24/7.

My Advice

buy the whole kit (battery and tools) for convenience.

My Problem

The original battery was so low in "health" that it began shutting the computer off sporadically at charge levels lower than 50% - the computer was no longer reliable unless it was powered through the AC adapter.

My Fix

Your battery worked very well, starting off at around 30% charge and showing 99% health . . .
