My Problem

Bought a 3gs with a craked screen just to see if I could fix it

My Fix

Repair went ok the guide was excellent the phone works great.

My Advice

Get a big magnifying class thoose wires a small for old eyes lol

My Problem

Screen digitizer was damaged and front screen started popping up.

My Fix

Kind of an uh oh moment when I first popped off the screen. The #3 cable pulled out. I thought it ripped but I just noticed the little lever was popped up when the cable was pulled so I got lucky.

My Advice

Watching the iFixit video as well as other videos be very diligent in holding the upper part of the screen when pulling the bottom out after taking out the two screws. Be patient (unlike me) and ease it out making sure the upper part of the screen stays hinged. Helps to have a suction cup.

My Problem

Phone fell out of pocket while sitting down and broke front glass

My Fix

Repair was relatively easy. Connecting small cable connectors was a challenge, especially number 3. There was a degree of uncertainty if connectors were connected correctly. Therefore powered up phone with cables connected, but before buttoning it up.

My Advice

Power up phone to ensure cables are connected properly before buttoning up

My Problem

Old iPhone 3gs needed a new screen due to my 2 year old ruining the screen...figured I replace the screen and while i'm at it...the battery.

My Fix

Couldn't of been much easier...following the guides..had it fixed in 30 minutes.

My Advice

None...it was easy so just do it if needed.

My Problem

Grandma need a phone ASAP an I found my old 3GS in a box with a cracked screen

My Fix

Ah 3GS is Leica an easy took about 8-10 min for the swap.

My Advice

3GS is one of the easiest iPhones to work on

My Problem

My wife dropped her iPhone on ceramic tile and smashed the screen. To repair it, I tried ordering cut-rate parts from two China-based suppliers. In each case, the Chinese suppliers sent me low-quality parts with major defects, and the phone still wasn't usable.

Finally, I found iFixIt. Sure they cost a few dollars more, but the parts arrived FAST, and they were perfect OEM replacements. My wife's iPhone is as good as new.

Thanks iFixIt!

My Fix

The repair was quick & easy. The iFixIt replacement screen included the LCD already attached to the glass - so the repair literally involved removing two screws, disconnecting three cables, then the opposite to install the new screen.

My Advice

Don't make the same mistake I did - order top-quality parts from iFixIt the first time!

My Problem

This is a hand-me-down phone on which I had previously replaced the cracked glass on my 3GS (which, despite using the kit from iFixit, was a bit of a ugly mess, but I did it), but then shortly thereafter the LCD developed the "white screen of death" problem and I could never turn it off. Along with a dodgy home button, I figure it was time to replace the whole shebang and got the display assembly, as I probably should have done in the first place. $60 to get everything fixed at once (vs. $800 for a new phone)? Why not!

My Fix

This was so much easier than the glass replacement, especially having already had lots of practice taking the 3GS apart to do the glass and battery replacements. The cost is higher, and there's the waste issue of throwing away a perfectly good screen, but it's a much simpler repair than replacing just the glass. iFixit's repair guides are indispensable, and the I love the magnetic project mat that I picked up as well, which is perfect for keeping track of those tiny screws.

My Advice

Obviously, had I known my LCD was going to start failing so soon after the glass replacement, I would certainly have gone with the display assembly replacement in the first place. But having done both, I would recommend just going with the full display assembly replacement if the price difference isn't excessive.

My Problem

Broken glass

My Fix

About 20 Minutes. With the Manual of Ifixit.com.......perfectly!!!

My Advice

No device

My Problem

phone would just shut off for no reason. screen was bleeding too

My Fix

great I thought I messed up but I was ok it was easy as pie.

My Advice

yes and it was correct

My Problem

My earpiece was broken so I purchased the display assembly.

My Fix

The repair was easy enough with the great guides but I did have a problem with one part. Customer service sent me a replacement immediately with no hassle.

My Advice

Ifixit is a great company and I'll return for any electronics needs in the future. Thanks ifixit, you rock!!
