This Fix Kit includes iFixit’s iOpener, a tablet opening tool designed to apply heat directly and evenly to case components joined with adhesive. The iOpener is heated in the microwave and is reusable.

My Problem

The screen/glass was shattered

My Fix

Remove adhesive is the most difficult part

My Advice

be patient and you have to clean the LCD afterwards anyway so don't be afraid of touching it when removing the font panel/glass

My Problem

I was repairing an iPad for a friend as a Christmas gift - free labor. They'd already purchased the part, and I didn't notice (unfortunately) that the frame was more bent than I'd realized, so when I placed the repair part, it cracked. I should have done a thorough visual inspection.

My Fix

I ordered a seco . . .

Broken Screen

My Fix

Went good except right at the end. I have one corner where the adhesive doesn't appear to be working as the corner keeps popping up.

Any advice?

My Problem

Shattered screen

My Fix

Getting the broken glass off took about an hour. Very tedious. After that it was as simple as can be. Had to reopen to remove some dust I missed but went great.

My Advice

Broken glass is super irritating to remove. Be careful and patient.

My Problem

The screen was completely cracked.

My Fix

The repair went pretty well. 30 min to open the screen and 20 to completely replace it. It was a smooth process!

My Advice

Putting tape on the display is a must, but sometimes the screen breaks even with the tape, so be careful.

My Problem

Cracked screen.

My Fix

The repair went great.

My Advice

Don't cheap out with digitizers....this was my 4th screen purchased in 3 weeks. The others I didn't even bother trying to put in as they were very low quality.

My Problem

Cracked iPad 3 screen.

My Fix

This is my second go around with an iPad 3 repair. My 5- and 3-year-olds are the culprits and we don't always have it in a case. Even when its in the case, it gets dropped on the floor several times.

The big thing with the iFIXIT replacement screens and Apple's original . . .
