My Problem

My phone died when I plugged it onto a car charger. It would not charge the battery using cable or wireless charging. It would not power up even after charging battery in external charger. Microsoft said it was 6 months out of warranty and it would be about $200 to have it fixed.

My Fix

The Lumia motherboard and smartphone toolkit form iFixit were perfect. I was able to open up the phone, remove covers and pin connectors with the tools, then put in the replacement motherboard. It booted up immediately and did its long upgrade process to upgrade to Windows phone 8.1 denim update. All phone components work with new motherboard and I have a good as new phone again. I uploaded a few photos that show various stages of phone disassembly and finally show the fully restored phone turned on to the Glance screen.

My Advice

I found it very useful to run/pause a YouTube video on my PC showing the complete disassembly of a Lumia 830. It showed how to carefully remove some key parts using tools provided in the iFixit toolkit. The video is here — https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJumqaAq...

I also suggest setting up all backup features of your phone now before the unexpected power failure like mine occurs. There is no way to recover pictures or files if the motherboard cannot be powered on.

My Problem

My phone decided it was time to take a nap face down on the concrete floor. I picked it up knowing it was toast. Scotch tape became my new screen for the next 7 months until I found iFix It.

My Fix

Smooth. Easy. If you can watch a video and turn a screwdriver, you can fix your phone! Dont pay Apple/etc to fix your phones for 1000% markup.

My Advice

Great parts. Real easy installation. Just take your time and keep everything separated.

Some screws are a tad bit longer and need to go in the right spots.

Oh. And the %#*@ ribbon connectors on the logic board. Make sure theyre fully snapped in before you close your phone back up.

Doh!

My Problem

Broken Screen on my LG Flex, I called around to a few well know repair shops that fix phones and they all wanted $299. I could have bought a replacement phone on EBAY for $299. So i thought I would try fixing it myself. Since it was already broken, what did I have to lose?

My Fix

Less than an hour to fix. I watched the repair video several times and then put my laptop in front of me and went step by step thru the repair process. I ordered the replacement screen and a tool kit. About $120 total.

My Advice

Take your time and don't have fear. Remember that a lot of these repair shops are manned by people that might not have graduated high school. It doesn't mean that all of them are that way, but pretty good bet that they learned how to do the repair by watching the same video online. Why be afraid. It's not that hard.

My Problem

Problem was that my phone had been left in the rain. After days in rice, i found the battery wouldn't hold charge, and the power button didn't work (the phone would turn on when charging, so I could confirm that everything else was working, but could not induce sleep mode or turn it off using power button).

My Fix

Repair involved researching on Ifixit.com to determine the problem, then ordering parts (repair kit, new batt, new power sensor cable), then following through with the online guides.

My Advice

It worked! The power button functions again, the battery is better but I'm not really impressed with its quality. I'll get about a day from one charge.

Advice: follow the guides CAREFULLY! The high res photos were critical, tapping on them opens them in a new browser tab with better resolution, so you can zoom way in. Many steps have multiple photos, with one of them prompted above the text. Pan right to find tumbnails of other pics for that step. In short, patience and organization are essential. Booze is a no-no until its all over.

My Problem

Phone turns off when battery was fully charged. Showing connect to charge icon when trying to turn on. Loud speaker stopped working. Phone wasn't ringing couldn't use speaker or listen to music. Rear Camera had a black dot, and on pictures.

My Fix

Repairs went easy less then an hr completed the work.

My Advice

Please take your time. Follow the guides. Make sure everything is connected properly because you would hate to re-open the phone. Parts i will recommend you to use if you need to know where you removed the screws from is called iScrews iPhone Screw Trays.

My Problem

I'm in Utah around Salt Lake and iFixit's standard shipping makes it here in 2 days which is Awesome! iPad quit working and would not charge the battery after new update. Apple tested it and said the logic board failed. I found iFixit and purchased a tool kit and the logic board and put it in without any problems. Waited for the battery to charge and voila it works again! Thanks iFixit.

My Fix

For me the repair was pretty easy, however I've been a technician for 21 years. This was the first Apple product I have attempted to fix though.

My Advice

Take it slow and follow iFixit's directions and you'll have no problems.

My Problem

Home button was very temperamental and also battery was not holding charge to well so decided to do both at once.

My Fix

The repair went well, followed all the steps and needed to check the 'comments' on a few steps just to check what I was doing was correct.

My Advice

I would say that you defiantly need to move the headphone jack out of the way as it is impossible to remove the screw in step 32, bit of a pain but but it is needed to do easily. Also was finding it difficult to remove the screen and found the small suction cup in the smartphone repair kit very handy on this step.

My Problem

I couldn't get the phone to charge unless the the lightening connector was positioned just right in the charging jack

My Fix

This was my first attempt at a repair of the type. I learned quickly to take my time and follow the directions to the letter. Make sure you take the parts out in order and keep the parts separated so they go back in the same order. The screws aren't easy to identify if you get them out of order. Having done it once I think I could complete the job in two hours or less.

My Advice

Be patient. I used a magnifying glass with an attached light that really helped with some of the steps when disassembling and reassembling.

My Problem

My wife's iPhone 6+ camera quit focusing as a lot of then hav . Bought the kit and a camera from ifixit and it was really simple and easy to do.

My Fix

Went awesome. About 30 minutes and I was done

My Advice

Take your time and go slow
