The left fan on my MacBook Pro has been making noise for months and finally started sounding like an ice crusher.
The repair took about 90 minutes from start to finish. There are a lot of tiny screws.
Set up a well-lit area and be sure to segregate each of the groups of screws as you remove them.
Fan very noisey
Followed your instruction sheet. Everything went perfectly.
Just follow the instructions
The left fan on our MacBook Pro 17" A1229 was making a lot of noise.
Following your guide made the process extremely easy and fun to complete for someone who has never worked on a computer before. It took me about an hour from start to finish. The most difficult step for me was #16 because you cannot pull on the wires at all.
Be patient, and take your time.
Right fan got very noisy
It went perfect, easy with Ifixit guidance, changed left fan in same operation + cleaned both cooling grills, both fans been running since 2007, a lot of hours and Rpms since 2007
Just do it, tool kit recommended was perfect, maybe a little more advice about disconnecting electrical plugs, with close up photos....
