Very well and quick
One day all of a sudden the audio just went on my MacBook Air. I've had this computer since 2010, it was a first gen MBA so I figured I might be SOL. However, I don't give up easily when it comes to computer problems.
The first thing I did was research the problem. From my experience I know that so . . .
No sound - it was a champagne supernova.
Cable arrived in its happy little box and I followed the instructions on the site. It took about 10 minutes to unscrew everything and pop it in place, then put it all back together.
I've actually run the cable over the top of the battery, rather than underneat . . .
At first all audio devices intermittently disappeared. Resetting PRAM etc. stopped working. Eventually the only way I can get audio was with a USB mic and speaker.
The repair went smoothly following the step-by-step guide. After reassembly and restarting the computer audio was back.
Use a magnetic she . . .
My MBA audio is out. After googling, changing audio cable is the way to solve it.
It took me 30 mins to get it done. I follow step by step on ifixit.

No sound from 1st gen Air.
After the Sauna and "few" Sauna-beers quite smooth, I have already changed SSD to air, so no first timer opening that thing.
And holy higher force, did hear a ching after the repair, awesome.
I have a habit of playing Queen - Breakthru when succeeding in something awesom . . .
broken sound, and extremely slow, suggesting disk errors, short battery life
Replaced the audio card and cable, battery, and the HD (with a SSD from a different vendor, because you don't carry a drop-in SSD replacement). It came up working fine, installed Ubuntu 12.10, works great.
Be slow and methodi . . .
I had no sound coming from speakers or the audio jack
The repair went seamlessly. The online guide was perfect
