Fix Your Stuff

Right to Repair

Cracked screen? Touch not working? Bad OLED display? This video guide will help you open your Galaxy S8+ and transplant the internals into a new frame, with a new screen already attached. This can sometimes be easier than replacing the screen by itself. Note that the video is narrated in German, but the steps are clearly demonstrated and you should be able to follow along without too much difficulty regardless of language.

Note that this repair involves removing the battery. Once removed, the battery should not be re-used (it's a potential fire safety hazard and can damage your phone). Have a replacement battery ready before starting this repair.

Note: Some replacement screens are sold without the frame attached. In that case, follow this guide instead.

Video Instructions

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.

something to note, not sure if the guy mentions in video (it’s german, I didn't actually watch it) :

If you try and test the new display before you reassembled the mid frame, you will get a temperature warning. reinstall all screws and mid frame then test, should be good.

also, this is the only method you should attempt this repair, as the official samsung screens will come like this, with frame. If not, its not original, don’t waste your time or money on sh!tty parts
