When replacing the battery it is important to make sure the phone is turned off to prevent any possible loss of data. If the battery is visibly damaged or appears to be leaking stop immediately and take the phone it to a certified repair store to ask for them to dispose of the battery. A battery that appears swollen or to be leaking is a hazard since it can explode or leak and extremely powerful acid.
