  1. Remove the parallel port cover on the back of the PlayStation.
    • Remove the parallel port cover on the back of the PlayStation.

  2. Flip over the PlayStation and remove the six screws from the bottom.

  4. Turn the PlayStation upright. Remove the cover by lifting it up.

  5. Remove the two screws securing the controller port to the case. Remove the two screws securing the controller port to the case.

  6. Gently disconnect the ribbon cable from the logic board. This is done by pulling on the blue area of the cable near the connector.

  7. Remove and replace the controller port.

I try replacing the controller and still wouldn't play memory cards.

I changed the controller port but the psx still doesn't recognize any controller. Both controller port and ribbon cable work perfect in other console. I wonder which components on the mother board are related with the controller ports so I can check them with a tester.
