    • Indicative photos of the various components of the machines:

    • Photo 1 Water heating boiler, internally incorporating a resistance.

    • Photo 2: Power input thermo fuse directly in contact with the boiler so that in the event of an abnormal rise in temperature, the fuse cuts off the input power.

    • Photo 3: The same as the fuse in photo 2, but it is placed on the other input power cable.

    • Photo 1: Water pump, absorbs water from the tank, sending it to the boiler, at the top of the pump, we also find the NTC temperature probe.

    • Photo 2: Rubber membrane type ON button (OFF is automatic on this machine).

    • Photo 3: Hot or cold water selection button, very typical in this series of machines.

  8. Nescafe KRUPS Dolce Gusto coffee maker - water pump test: step 8, image 1 of 2 Nescafe KRUPS Dolce Gusto coffee maker - water pump test: step 8, image 2 of 2
    • Photo 1: PCB electronic board.

    • Photo 2: Detail of the RESISTANCE WITH FUSE FUNCTION located in the center of the board, but electrically linked to the power input connector, it can burn "cut" and aesthetically we will not observe anything, it would give the same type of symptom as one or both power input fuses blown, machine completely OFF.

  9. Nescafe KRUPS Dolce Gusto coffee maker - water pump test: step 9, image 1 of 3 Nescafe KRUPS Dolce Gusto coffee maker - water pump test: step 9, image 2 of 3 Nescafe KRUPS Dolce Gusto coffee maker - water pump test: step 9, image 3 of 3
    • Water pump or water impulsion pump, is not one of the most common breakdowns, but the breakdown can occur, that the machine turns on, the button is blinking green and the machine does nothing else, does not drive the water, in this video is the specific fault it has.

    • To remove the faston connectors from the water pump, these connectors have a tab or safety clip, so that they do not accidentally come loose, to remove them, you have to press said clip at the same time as it is stretched from the connector.

  10. Nescafe KRUPS Dolce Gusto coffee maker - water pump test: step 10, image 1 of 3 Nescafe KRUPS Dolce Gusto coffee maker - water pump test: step 10, image 2 of 3 Nescafe KRUPS Dolce Gusto coffee maker - water pump test: step 10, image 3 of 3
    • Example of how to remove the 2 Faston connectors.

  11. Nescafe KRUPS Dolce Gusto coffee maker - water pump test: step 11, image 1 of 3 Nescafe KRUPS Dolce Gusto coffee maker - water pump test: step 11, image 2 of 3 Nescafe KRUPS Dolce Gusto coffee maker - water pump test: step 11, image 3 of 3
    • Electrical check of the water pump, (I dedicate another more specific and extensive document, here I only make a note), We will use the multimeter in Ohm scale, 20 M or 10 M scale, whichever one our multimeter has, OJOOOO we must measure the pump of water in both directions, that is, +,- and -, +.

    • The winding of these pumps has a diode internally so in a +,- direction it can give us an open circuit 1. in the multimeter and falsify the measurement, which is why it is measured in both directions.

    • This specific machine has the water pump winding burned open, that is its fault, it was not repaired since the cost of the pump exceeded 50% of the cost of a new machine.

  12. Nescafe KRUPS Dolce Gusto coffee maker - water pump test, Nescafe KRUPS Dolce Gusto coffee maker - water pump test: step 12, image 1 of 2 Nescafe KRUPS Dolce Gusto coffee maker - water pump test, Nescafe KRUPS Dolce Gusto coffee maker - water pump test: step 12, image 2 of 2
    • Continuation of a previous document where I detail the interior parts of a Nescafe Dolce Gusto PICCOLO coffee machine, this document is dedicated to checking, using 2 methods, the damaged water pump of the machine.

    • To check the operation of the coffee maker's water pump, we have 2 methods that we will now see. With a multimeter and with a mains cable.

  13. Nescafe KRUPS Dolce Gusto coffee maker - water pump test: step 13, image 1 of 2 Nescafe KRUPS Dolce Gusto coffee maker - water pump test: step 13, image 2 of 2
    • 1st CHECK METHOD: with the multimeter in Ohm scale, 10 M or 20 Mohms scale, we will check the pump in direction - and conversely the test leads in direction -, in one of the positions it will not give us measurement 1. ( open circuit) but if it is ok, in the other position -, it should give us an approximate measurement between 2M and 8 M.

    • If circuit 1.____ was open, the pump coil would be open = burned = damaged.

  14. Nescafe KRUPS Dolce Gusto coffee maker - water pump test: step 14, image 1 of 3 Nescafe KRUPS Dolce Gusto coffee maker - water pump test: step 14, image 2 of 3 Nescafe KRUPS Dolce Gusto coffee maker - water pump test: step 14, image 3 of 3
    • Electrical details of the water pump, VERY IMPORTANT TO REVIEW THEM BEFORE PROCEEDING TO THE SECOND CHECK METHOD, this water pump is powered at 230 V AC (direct mains voltage).

    • To test the pump we will disconnect the two Faston power connectors from the pump.

  15. Nescafe KRUPS Dolce Gusto coffee maker - water pump test: step 15, image 1 of 1
    • With a cable with an electrical plug and 2 faston connectors, we can make the direct connection of the water pump to a plug socket.

    • The cable is a cable from the scrapping of other appliances and 2 faston connectors sold in hardware stores or electrical material stores.

  16. Nescafe KRUPS Dolce Gusto coffee maker - water pump test: step 16, image 1 of 1
    • View of the water pump with the 2 cables with faston connectors, of the electrical test cable.

  17. Nescafe KRUPS Dolce Gusto coffee maker - water pump test: step 17, image 1 of 2 Nescafe KRUPS Dolce Gusto coffee maker - water pump test: step 17, image 2 of 2
    • Photo 1: prepared for the test.

    • Photo: Connecting the plug to a socket. IF the water pump is OK, it will immediately make the typical clicking noise when we make coffee. BE CAREFUL WE SHOULD NOT LET IT OPERATE LIKE THIS, MORE THAN 5 or 10 Seconds, otherwise it may burn.

    • The pump DOES NOT sound, we do not hear any sound or hum, WATER PUMP BREAKDOWN, ITS COIL BURNED.

    • At this point we must check the cost of a spare part and before buying it, evaluate the general condition of the machine, to decide whether or not it is worth purchasing the spare part, since said spare part can exceed 50% of the cost of a spare part. New machine, so repair as this has been the case would NOT be recommended.

    • In another document I will show you the measurements of an OK water pump.

Conclusion

If the water pump does not work, evaluate the cost of the replacement and the condition of the machine; for costs greater than 50% of the price of a new machine, the repair is usually not worth it.
