  2. KitchenAid Professional 600 Worm Gear Replacement: step 2, image 1 of 1
    • Remove the four Phillips #2 screws located around the mixer where the band was removed.

    • This picture only shows two of the screw that you need to remove. The other two are on the exact opposite side of the mixer.

  3. KitchenAid Professional 600 Worm Gear Replacement: step 3, image 1 of 1
    • Remove the top of the mixer to reveal the inner parts.

    • The top should lift off, but may not if it is stuck. A sharp strike from the back with the hand may unstick it. It will slide forward about a 3/8 of an inch. Push it back again from the front and it should be free enough to lift.

  4. KitchenAid Professional 600 Worm Gear Replacement, Gear Housing Cover: step 4, image 1 of 1
    • Remove the 4 Phillips #2 screws connecting the black housing cover to the device.

    • Only one of the screws is seen in the picture. The other three are also located around the black housing cover.

  5. KitchenAid Professional 600 Worm Gear Replacement: step 5, image 1 of 1
    • Take off the black housing cover.

  6. KitchenAid Professional 600 Worm Gear Replacement, Worm Gear: step 6, image 1 of 1
    • Remove the Worm Gear.

    • The Worm Gear is the part that is lying horizontal.

    • Remember to apply food safe grease onto your new replacement part before assembling the device back together.

Before replacing part, make sure you remove all the old grease (the black gunk). It could contain metal shards that will quickly wear down gears. I used a 50% alcohol and a lot of rags and cotton swabs (Q-Tips®). Make sure everything is dry before placing new food-grade grease.

Is there a part number for the two metal stand off guide things on the worm gear?
