Introduction

After long-term use of the JBL Go 2 speaker, it can lose battery life. If your speaker no longer holds a charge or dies quickly, replacing the battery can bring it back to better performance. This beginner's guide leads you through the steps to safely remove the old battery and replace it with a new one. Before you start your process, make sure to gather the necessary tools listed below to ensure proper restoration.

Step 1 Battery

Make sure the JBL Go 2 is powered off completely before beginning.
Unplug the charging cable or auxiliary cord if connected.

The front speaker grill is clipped on.
Use a plastic pry tool or guitar pick along the edges.
Carefully work around the grill until it pops off.

Remove the four 9 mm T6 Torx screws that secure the driver housing.

Gently pull apart the front and back casing.
Be careful because internal wires connect the components.

Use your fingers or tweezers to carefully unplug the battery connector from the board.
Do not pull on the wires, only the connector.

Unplug the battery connector from the motherboard.
Once complete, the motherboard will release from the device.

When removing the battery, slowly lift it using a plastic pry tool.
Take care not to bend, warp, or puncture the battery during removal.
Peel it away from the adhesive.
