Introduction
Use this guide to replace the ice bucket in your older Whirlpool side‑by‑side refrigerator. It’s a simple process that you can do yourself in just a few minutes.
The ice bucket serves to store the ice that the ice maker produces. The ice bucket also contains the ice auger.
If the auger fails, the refrigerator will not dispense ice through the freezer door. If the bucket fails, your Ice maker may not work properly, and you may have ice chips in the freezer area.
This guide is based on a Whirlpool Model ED5FTGXKQ02 Refrigerator.
What you need

Pull the handle of the refrigerator door towards you to open it.

Lift the ice maker flap.

Slide the ice maker flap into its slot.

Llift the ice bucket slightly and pull it towards you to remove it.
