If you have a Handspring Visor Edge Battery that needs to be replaced, then this guide will help you understand how with included safety tips. What is a Handspring Visor Edge? It is a device from the Handspring Visor series that allows you to organize important information such as contacts, schedules and notes. Since the type of battery it uses are known to last around a month, it is important to understand how you would replace one once it is no longer usable. Depending on your repair experience, this guide is for people who are either experienced or just starting out. You do however need to be very careful when dealing with this device as it can easily break if you put too much force onto it, such as breaking the flip cover or screen. The battery itself can also be considered a fire risk if it is damaged, so make sure you take note on if the battery is damaged or not before starting.

Step 1 Flip Cover

Open the Visor Edge placing the screen and the inner part of the flip cover face down on a flat surface such as a table
On the back of the PDA there is a tab connecting the flip cover to the device. Push gently on this tab trying to slide the cover upwards along the surface then lift the pieces apart to fully detach them
Do not pull or tug on the flip cover in an attempt to remove it from the PDA this can result in the cover snapping causing damage to the device
To reassemble push the downward on the flip cover where there is an indent on the PDA indicating where the pieces connect. Finally, push the cover until it snaps into place.

Remove the six 4.1 mm Phillips screws from the back plate using the #00 Phillips Scewdriver.

Remove the gray back plate from the PDA.

Remove the four 2.6 mm Philips screws that are on the sides of the frame.
Remove the 3.9 mm Philips screw holding the stylus holster to the frame.

Remove the four 2.6 mm Philips screws on the top and bottom of the frame.

Gently remove the white frame from the back of the PDA.

Gently pull off the front cover.

Tweezers

Gently use your finger or tweezers to push the brown lock away from the side of the circuit board that is holding the ribbon cable.
Remove the ribbon cable with tweezers.

Using the tweezers, pull back the ribbon cable on the top of the device.
Pull at the white part of the ribbon to avoid tearing.

Using the same technique as with the other ribbons, locate and disconnect the ribbon cable above the battery pack.

All the ribbon cables should be disconnected from the mother board.
Remove the four 3.6 mm Phillips #00 screws located at each corner of the device.

Carefully separate the circuit board and the screen. (Be careful of soldered wires when separating)
Be careful not to break the soldered wires that connects the circuit board to the battery pack.
Disconnect the wire that connects the battery pack to the motherboard using tweezers.
