Introduction

Is your HP 250 G7 running slowly, struggling with multitasking, or frequently maxing out memory usage? Upgrading the RAM can significantly improve performance. This guide will show you how to access and replace the memory module.

Before starting this repair, check the HP 250 G7 Troubleshooting pages to confirm that insufficient RAM is the cause of your performance issues.

To begin:

Power off the laptop
Disconnect anything plugged into the laptop

Safety Warnings:

Disconnect the battery before touching internal components
Avoid static discharge, as RAM is highly sensitive to ESD
Do not use metal pry tools when opening the laptop
Handle the RAM module by the edges to avoid damaging the contacts

What you need

Step 1 Lower Case

Unplug the charger and all peripheries. Shut down the laptop before beginning disassembly.
Flip the laptop so its underside is facing up.
Use a hair dryer to lightly heat the rubber feet.
Use a spudger to lift and remove the rubber feet.
If you intend to reuse the feet, take care not to tear or warp the rubber feet during removal. Reapply adhesive during reinstallation.

Remove the eleven 9 mm-long Phillips #1 screws securing the lower case.

Insert an opening pick or opening tool into the seam between the lower case and palm rest assembly.
Slide the opening pick around the entire perimeter, while prying every couple of centimeters to release the retaining clips.
Remove the lower case.

Remove the three 8 mm-long Phillips #1 screws securing the battery.

Lift the battery up and away from the connector.
Remove the battery.

Two clips secure the RAM module in place, one on each side. Using your fingers, spread the clips away from the RAM module.
Be cautious with force, as you don't want to break the spring mechanism.
Gently grasp the edges of the memory module and pull it away from the slot.
When you replace memory, after inserting it into the slot, gently push down and clips will snap it in place.
