Introduction

If the device does not recognize fingers correctly, replacing the fingerprint scanner may solve this issue.

Turn off the device.
  • Turn off the device.

  • Heat and use an iOpener to soften the screen adhesive.

  • Wedge an opening tool around the seam of the device to remove the screen.

Wedge an opening tool into the notch that is located at the top left part of the phone. Slide the opening tool across the seam of the device and lift the mid-frame.

  • Hearing clicks as you lift the mid-frame off is normal because of the clasps holding it down.

  • When lifting the mid-frame, be careful not to damage the ribbon cable connecting the earpiece speaker to the motherboard.
