How to remove and replace the Display Assembly.

What you need

  1. Alienware M11xR2 Display Assembly Replacement, Disconnecting Antenna Cable: step 1, image 1 of 1

    • WARNING: Before working inside your computer, read the safety information that shipped with your computer.

    • CAUTION: To avoid electrostatic discharge, ground yourself by using a wrist grounding strap or by periodically touching an unpainted metal surface (such as a connector on your computer).

    • Disconnect the antenna cables from the Mini-Card(s).

    • The routing of the Mini-Card antenna cables and remove them from the routing guides on the computer base.

  3. Alienware M11xR2 Display Assembly Replacement, Turning Over The Computer: step 3, image 1 of 1

    • Turn the computer over and open the display as far as possible.

  4. Alienware M11xR2 Display Assembly Replacement, Pulling The Pull-Tab: step 4, image 1 of 1

    • Pull the pull-tab to disconnect the display cable from the connector on the system board.

    • Remove the four screws that secure the display assembly to the computer base.

  7. Alienware M11xR2 Display Assembly Replacement, Removing Mini-Card cable: step 6, image 1 of 1

    • Gently slide the Mini-Card antenna cables out through the slot on the computer base.

    • Lift the display assembly off the computer.

    • Slide the antenna cables in through the slot on the computer base.

  10. Alienware M11xR2 Display Assembly Replacement, Securing Screws: step 9, image 1 of 1

    • Place the display assembly in position and replace the four screws that secure the display assembly to the computer base.

  11. Alienware M11xR2 Display Assembly Replacement, Connecting New Display Cable: step 10, image 1 of 1

    • Connect the display cable to the connector on the system board.

  12. Alienware M11xR2 Display Assembly Replacement, Rerouting The Mini-Card Cable: step 11, image 1 of 1

    • Turn the computer over and route the Mini-Card antenna cables through the routing guides on the computer base.

  13. Alienware M11xR2 Display Assembly Replacement, Connecting Mini-Card Cables: step 12, image 1 of 1

    • Connect the Mini-Card antenna cables to the Mini-Card(s).
