Introduction
If your 8BitDo Pro 2 controller joystick is unresponsive or not registering movement correctly, the joystick cover may need to be replaced. This guide demonstrates how to remove the joystick cover from your controller. The joystick module is the component attached to the circuit board beneath the cover. To replace the joystick module, soldering is required and is not covered in this guide.
The joystick is responsible for translating movement into directional input within your game. Over time, wear, tear, or internal damage can affect its performance and accuracy.
Before using this guide, try cleaning the base of the joystick, as debris can sometimes interfere with proper function. You should also test the controller on multiple devices to ensure it is in the correct input mode to confirm the issue is hardware related, see the troubleshooting page for more information.
This repair will require you to open the controller. Before beginning, make sure to power your controller off completely and remove the battery.
