Background

The iPhone Duo, referred to in rumors leading up to the September 2026 keynote as "iPhone Ultra," or "Phone Fold," is Apple's first foldable smartphone. Released alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max, the Duo features an all-new shape and design, similar to Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold8. It has a large front display and opens to reveal an even larger ~4:3 aspect ratio 7.6-inch seamless inner display. Its frame is titanium, like the iPhone 15 Pro, and is also the thinnest iPhone at the time of release.

Along with its brand new form factor, the iPhone Duo also features Apple's new and redesigned A20 Pro chip, which integrates the system memory next to the APU package, like on their M-series processors. The A20 Pro chip is built on a new 2nm process and supports 50% better memory bandwidth than A19 Pro. Essentially now a "mini" M-series, the A20 features two "super" cores and a second 16-core Neural Engine.

The iPhone Duo retains 120 Hz on both displays, retains MagSafe charging, retains IP68 water resistance, but uses only two rear 48 MP cameras. The variable aperture from the 18 Pro is not present on the Duo. The inner display has an under-screen selfie camera and supports Apple Pencil. Touch ID on the power button replaces Face ID.

The iPhone Duo is available in Night Sky or Star White and starts at $1,999.

Identification

You can identify the iPhone Duo by the model number printed inside of the USB-C charge port.

  • A3447
  • A3719
  • A3720

You can also find the model number through the phone's UI by going to the Settings app and navigating to General > About. Tap on the number listed in the Model Number section and it should change to a format that looks like the numbers above.

Additionally, Apple offers a quick online tool to help identify your devices: Identify your iPhone model.

The iPhone Duo is unique, featuring a 7.6-inch (diagonal) inner folding screen and titanium side rails. It has two rear cameras.
